Western Union Dept Scam Email

Upon reaching the office and checking my emails as I usually do.  I encountered this email from Western Union Dept. With the subject entitled “Update!!!” which at first I thought was just a news update from Western Union. So I checked it out being careful at any links or pop ups that I may encounter. Why? Western Union doesn’t usually send me a news, an email or any kind. So I find it hard to believe that Western Union will suddenly send me an email. Plus the fact that I don’t remember subscribing on any Western Union websites. It was dated Saturday, July 4, 2009 5:18 AM, I became more aware and cautious because of its “undisclosed-recipients” which only means that is a random generated email. To make the long story short here is the email content:

Subject: Update!!!

To: undisclosed-recipients

How are you today?

I write to inform you that we have already sent you USD5000.00 dollars through Western union as we have been given the mandate to transfer your full compensation payment of USD1.800,000.00 via western union by this government.

What I did is search about it on the internet to find more information and if anybody already blogged about this Western Union Scam Email and I wasn’t surprised with number of results. So there you go, if ever you suddenly received an unexpected email offering to give you a lot of money out of nowhere, don’t click on any links, don’t reply or send any personal information, mark it as a spam or delete it permanently and warn you friends about this kind of emails.
